Concussion therapy
Concussion therapy is a crucial step to recovering from a head injury.
Signs and symptoms of a concussion may not appear until hours or days after the injury. It is very important to see a health care professional that specifically treats concussions to assure a proper recovering in a timely manner.
How does treatment look?
After a concussion book an appointment with Optimize Concussion specialist, Katie Smith. You will then perform multiple tests to assess the severity of your concussion and Katie will create a treatment plan for you
Tests may include:
Neurological examination
Cognitive testing
Imaging recommendation
Observation
Once you have been accessed, Katie will run you through your treatment plan. This will often include:physical and mental rest, pain relief, gradual return to activity to tolerance, and eventually return to sport.
Impact testing:
Impact testing is an online baseline and post-injury testing tool used to measure visual and verbal memory, reaction time, and processing speed to help determine if a patient can safely return to activity.
