Manual Therapy

Optimize staff is trained in multiple manual therapy techniques.

We believes that hands on manual therapy is an essential part in patients returning to full recovery. With certificates in Spinal Manipulation, Muscle Energy, IASTM and cupping, our staff uses a hollistic, full body approach to assure each patient reaches optimal results.

  • Spinal Manipulation:

    • One technique that may benefit you and be part of your therapy treatment is a high-velocity low-amplitude thrust technique designed to relieve pressure on joints, increase range of motion, reduce inflammation, and improve nerve function.

    • Common conditions treated with spinal manipulation include: low back pain, neck pain, headaches, shoulder dysfunction, and chronic pain.

  • IASTM

    • Instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) is a popular treatment for myofascial restriction.

In a healthy system muscles are able to slide without restriction. After an injury and/or surgery, fibroblasts lay down more collagen and increases the fascial density creating adhesions. This limits your function and range of motion. IASTM helps break these adhesions, promotes the movement of blood and helps facilitate neurologic stimulation for optimal healing.

IASTM is applied using specially designed instruments to provide a mobilizing effect to soft tissue. Treatment focus is on breaking up restricted areas in order to decrease pain and improve range of motion and function. Many health care providers appreciate using IASTM for less wear and tear on their hands and a deeper more specific treatment area.

  • Cupping

    • Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a therapist puts special cups on your skin for a few minutes to create suction.

    • The benefits include: decreased pain and inflammation, increased blood flow, relaxation, myofascial mobilization and is a type of deep-tissue massage.

    • Cupping increases blood circulation and decreases superficial myofascial tension to the area where the cups are placed. This can relieve muscle tension, which can improve overall blood flow and promote cell repair. It can also help form new connective tissues and create new blood vessels in the tissue.
